Stamping your company logo or custom artwork is a great way to showcase your brand and create a professional image. It’s also a personalized way to celebrate special memories or events such as an anniversary or retirement.

We can ship your order in as little as 7-10 business days and there are no minimum quantity requirements. We will also be glad to assist you with your design so the finished product exceeds your highest expectations.

How to start the process

Our website is not designed to process custom orders so we request that you do not place your order thru our shopping cart. Please call or email us to discuss your order and artwork. One of our staff members will handle your order thru the entire process.

The Stamping Die

In order to stamp your artwork we first need to create a stamping die. The stamping die is actually a metal plate that is etched with the image in reverse. The stamping die is then heated and embossed or foil stamped on to the leather. The only cost to stamp your artwork is a one time $60 stamping die charge. We will keep it on file in the event that you would like it used again on future orders at no additional charge.

Debossing and Foil Stamping

There are two options for stamping your artwork on the leather.

Debossing — The artwork is pressed into the leather without the use of any color to enhance the image. The leather will darken to provide contrast and you can feel the image pressed down into the leather. The resulting image is more subtle and understated however it will be easily seen on the leather.

Foil Stamping —  The stamping die is heated and a thin sheet of gold or silver foil is placed between the stamping die and leather. The heated stamping die transfers the foil onto the surface of the leather. It is not pressed into the leather like the embossing process. Foil stamping is recommended under certain circumstances were the artwork needs to be more visible than the embossing process.

Before we finalize your order we will discuss both options and provide our recommendation on the best way to stamp your artwork.

How to Provide Your Artwork

1. We need high resolution vectored artwork - at least 300 dpi resolution.
2. Your artwork must be solid black and white line art. Color or greyscale files will not work.
3. Accepted file formats are .pdf, .eps, .ai. .Eps and .ai file extensions are graphic files. Unless you have a graphics program on your computer you may not be able to open or edit these files. Both file formats are acceptable. We can open and edit the artwork as necessary.
4. Word files (.doc, .docx ) will not work, however you can create your artwork in these formats and send them to us for viewing purposes. We can recreate your artwork in an accepted format however there may be a minimal additional art charge.
5. Don’t worry about sending your artwork in the exact size. We can scale it to the appropriate size for stamping on the cover, spine, or wherever you would like.
6. If you’re unsure if your artwork meets these requirements go ahead and send it to us anyway. It might be easily converted to a format that will work. If not, we’ll let you know and discuss the different options available.

Email your artwork as a file attachment to artwork@mckinleyleather.com.
Include your name, contact information, shipping address, order details, and any additional information or instructions. Do not include any payment information. Once we receive your email we will contact you to discuss and finalize your order.
